Life of Luxury on the Lake with Heating From CTC

To make sure that guests on the famous United Spirit superyacht can enjoy their time aboard to the fullest, a modern heating solution is a necessity. CTC had the right marine heat pump.
“We came up with a flexible solution that provides the best comfort,” says CTC’s Roger Broberg.

The yacht United Spirit, which measures 34 metres in length and has a top speed of over 30 knots, has cruised the world’s oceans and welcomed celebrities.

Swedish industrialist Torsten Kreuger commissioned her to be built in 1938. He was fascinated by large and fast superyachts and owned the yacht until his death in 1973.

Sense of luxury

“There’s a true sense of luxury on board – everything is big and elegant,” says Roger Broberg, CTC Sales Representative.

Roger was involved with ensuring that United Spirit has the best possible heating solution. A marine heat pump, CTC EcoPart, has been installed in the confined space next to the yacht’s engines.

“The heat pump is compact and practical. Despite the small space at the bottom of the yacht, it was easy to get in.”

Flexible heat pump

The heat pump has a flexible connection so that the brine system can easily be connected to the right, left, top or rear of the pump.

Energy for on-board heating is drawn from a heat exchanger submerged in the lake.

“Now the heating on board is always good. Even in the summer it can get rather chilly on yachts at night, especially when it’s rainy and windy,” says Roger.

Facts:

United Spirit was designed by Knut Ljungberg and built at Götaverken shipyard. She is constructed from aluminium and has been equipped with a special surface in sandwich-structured composite, which ensures smooth cruising despite the high speeds.

The craft has three double cabins with built-in wardrobes and bathrooms. There is also a cabin with a bunk bed and cabins for the crew. She is powered by two MTU M20-10 engines (1,360 hp each) and the 34 metre long, 5 metre wide yacht can reach a top speed of over 30 knots.

CTC’s EcoPart heat pump is compact and speed controlled. It has the highest energy rating (A+++) and is ideal for low ceilings. Up to 10 heat pumps can be run together.
