About CTC

With over 90 years of experience, we work consciously towards a sustainable and fossil-free society. All of our products are developed and manufactured in the Småland region of Sweden. We offer a wide assortment of products, such as ground source heat pumps, air-to-water heat pumps, pellet boilers, wood boilers and a whole lot more.

We trace our roots back to 1923, when we began to heat Swedish homes. We are best known for our green boilers, which have supplied heating to millions of households all over Europe. We were the first company to offer heating boilers with built-in hot water heating and we were the first to introduce air-to-water heat pumps. It is therefore no exaggeration to say that we have developed the industry.

CTC is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of heating products. We are located in Småland and we are – along with Bentone, Turboflame and Osby Parca – a part of Enertech AB, which sells products across the globe.

Environment & Quality

Environment and sustainability ISO-14001:

Our product and system solutions aim for a continuous improvement of the environment and to reduce any affects to the environment. Therefore its very natural for us to consider any environmental aspects in everything we do by the following statements:

  • Continuously be updated regarding environmental laws and by a wide margin always live up to these laws and regulations.
  • Develop, manufacture and market products which are safe, energy efficient and environmental friendly which also can be scrapped or recycled in a safe way.
  • To use processes and work methods which minimises any environmental aspects.  

Recycling information:

For proper disposal, the packaging must be deposited at a recycling center or at your dealer. All heat pumps have parts to be recycled. To help with this, you can contact your installer, otherwise you can you go to a recycling station. It is important that the pump's coolant, compressor oil and electronics are recycled properly. CTC's other products must also be recycled, contact an installer if you are unsure how.

With the help of our high quality of our products we continuously create confidence for our customers. Quality is part of our whole process from development to production including marketing and sales. Service and support is crucial for our customers and for us as a company. We shall therefore continue to improve our quality by the following statements:

  • Organisation, quality assurance systems and workflow shall continuously be reconsidered and adapted to present situation and surrounding environment based on experience from the market and information from our customers and employees or by new legislations from governments.

Our history

CTC has passed many milestones. You can read about the most important ones here.

CTC Founded in 1923

In spring 1923, three young engineers in Gothenburg start to manufacture heating products. The name chosen for the company is CTC – the initials of the founders Celsius, Tellander and Clarin. Later, the name was also linked to the Latin phrase "Cum Tentatione Corrigendi", which can be roughly translated as "for continuous improvement". Even though this certainly is a ‘backronym’, after almost a century of development and improvement it has proven very apt.

CTC Founded in 1923

1931

CTC develops a heating boiler in which the water is heated by a battery. Production starts in Ljungby.

1932

CTC starts to manufacture hot water heaters and boilers for wood and coal firing. The subsidiary CTC Wärmespeicher GmbH is founded in Germany – marking the true beginning of export operations. During the 1930s, the name CTC became synonymous with modern heating in properties. “I’m going to go check on the CTC,” was probably said by many fathers in many homes.

1947

Various structural changes and partnerships with other companies enable CTC to start manufacturing washing machines under the Wascator name.

1952

CTC launches the first combi boiler with double combustion chambers for oil and solid fuel.

1959

A new production facility is opened in Ljungby. Research and development is moved there from the head office in Gothenburg.

1973

Electrolux acquires the washing machine business area. CTC remains Europe's leading manufacturer of heating boilers and heating for single-family homes.

1977

The current factory on Näsvägen in Ljungby is completed. The head office and all production facilities move into the new premises.

1979

CTC launches CTC Climatic (later renamed CTC Electronic), a climate-controlled electric boiler. A successful product, selling hundreds of thousands of units over the years.

1981

CTC’s first oil-condensing boiler, Type 381, is launched.

1982

CTC launches exhaust air heat pumps for mechanically-ventilated houses.

1984

Saab-Scania buys CTC, which becomes part of the Enertech Group along with Saab-Scania’s other companies in the heating sector.

1985

CTC launches air-to-water heat pumps in Sweden (CTC Rebell).

1988

CTC and the other Enertech companies are acquired by the Trelleborg Group. CTC creates a sensation at Stockholm's popular heating fair with the CTC 1100 – a compact combination boiler for oil and electricity with a soldered flat plate heat exchanger, featuring trendsetting technology that will come to dominate the market for many years.

1993

The UK group Wolseley plc acquires the Enertech Group from Trelleborg.

1998

The two associate companies CTC AB and Bentone AB become a legal entity.

1999

CTC releases the new CTC EcoHeat heat pumps for ground source, geothermal and lake heating. Just over a year later, CTC launches a new generation of air-to-water heat pumps: CTC EcoAir.

2001

The Enertech Group is sold to the UK group Enertech Ltd.

2007

CTC launches packaged solar heating systems for direct connection to CTC’s heat pumps.

2008

CTC releases new heat pumps for larger properties: CTC EcoAir 115, 120 and 125.

2009

CTC launches a new generation of Sweden’s best-selling air-to-water heat pump: CTC EcoAir.

2010

CTC launches a ground-breaking heating product: CTC EcoZenith 550, a new, intelligent all-in-one tank. CTC launches several new bio products: the CTC V40 Lambda wood boiler and the CTC EcoFlex V and T pellet boilers.

2011

CTC also leads the way when it comes to new digital channels. Two new applications for smartphones are launched: one for heat pump calculations and a troubleshooting application to help an installer methodically resolve faults and operational disruptions. CTC launches updated versions of Sweden’s best-selling air-to-water heat pump, the CTC EcoAir.

2012

CTC launches a totally new ground source heat pump, which beats all previous efficiency records with a COP of no less than 5.04. It also has a colour touchscreen and several other new properties and high performance. CTC launches a 3-year warranty on all of its products. CTC wins a European award. The Dutch Climatecno trade fair named the CTC EcoZenith 550 as the most innovative product of 2011.

2013

CTC turns 90 and launches, among other things, its new property range with new CTC EcoPart ground source heat pumps, EcoAir air-to-water heat pumps and the new CTC EcoLogic Pro control unit.

2014

CTC EcoAir 520M, the first variable-speed air-to-water heat pump is launched.

2015

CTC launches some of Sweden’s most efficient heat pumps: CTC GSi 12, the first variable-speed ground source heat pump, and CTC EcoAir 510M, the second variable-speed air-to-water heat pump.

2016

CTC launches the CTC Connect app, which makes it possible to control the heat pumps via mobile phones. A new, efficient indoor module, CTC EcoZenith i350, is also launched and boasts a newly-developed hot water system, which makes it the best in its class.

2017

Nibe purchases CTC along with the majority of the Enertech Group, and will be included in Nibe Climate Solutions.

The new CTC information app is released, which allows customers to download or read all printed material directly on a mobile phone. CTC Connect+ is launched. The CTC Connect app is updated and given a number of expanded features.
